Relic X Sunrise Wind

Posted by Aiden Kravitz on

SHIRLEY, NY — Sunrise Wind's joint development partners, Ørsted and Eversource, and the Long Island-based Relic Apparel Company will partner up on a cross-island beach cleanup at Smith Point and McAllister county parks on Monday — International Coastal Cleanup Day.

The cleanup will be spearheaded by workers from Sunrise Wind and Relic, as well as volunteers from the community, according to a news release. It will kick off at 6 p.m.

Sunrise Wind is a 924-megawatt offshore wind project located more than 30 miles east of Montauk Point, according to officials. It will power nearly 600,000 homes in New York starting in 2025, officials said, adding that Ørsted and Eversource are also developing the state’s first offshore wind farm, South Fork Wind in East Hampton, for which onshore construction began earlier this year.

Smith Point County Park is located at 1 William Floyd Parkway in Shirley. McAllister County Park is located at Pirate’s Cove on Anchorage Road in Belle Terre.
